TMC Acquired by Paul and Stacy DeSmet

Huntsville, Ala, October 2023—Technical Micronics Control, Inc. (TMC), a premier provider of precision chemical cleaning and panel fabrication services, today announced that its planned acquisition by Paul and Stacy DeSmet has closed.

In 2018, Kevin Heronimus, former CEO of Line-X Protective Coatings, purchased TMC from founding member and former Chairman of the Board George Epps.

“When we first looked at purchasing TMC in 2015, the timing wasn’t quite right. However, we never strayed from our vision of honoring George Epps’ legacy,” stated Paul DeSmet. “We are so proud and honored to work with the TMC team to deliver the highest quality services available in the industry. TMC has been involved in just about every major NASA program over the last 58 years.  We look forward to carrying that tradition forward working not only with NASA but also companies like Blue Origin, SpaceX, Moog, General Dynamics, and more. I can’t imagine a more exciting time to be a part of the aerospace industry!”

Paul received his Electrical Engineering degree from South Dakota State University, and served 16 years of active duty in the U.S. Navy including serving on submarines for seven years. He left active duty in 1999 to join Advanced Protective Coatings in Huntsville. Advanced Protective Coatings later would become LINE-X Protective Coatings where he served as the Executive Vice President. During his time with LINE-X, he gained expertise in the areas of product and business development, marketing, sales, technical services, international operations, and strategic initiatives. Throughout his time at Advanced Protective Coatings and LINE-X, Paul continued his service in the Navy Reserves, retiring in July 2010 at the rank of Captain. Paul is also a pilot that holds an Air Transport License and is type rated in Honda Jets. Paul serves as TMC’s President.

Stacy received her B.A. in Graphic Design from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and later went on to serve as Director of Outreach for NASA’s Space Product Development office. She was founder of Synectics, a full-service advertising agency in Huntsville, and, as a 4th Degree Black Belt, is the owner of Tiger-Rock Martial Arts of Hagerstown (MD). She has extensive experience in marketing, branding, customer relationships, and business development. She serves as TMC’s VP of Marketing.

“Since childhood, I’ve loved stargazing and dreamed of space travel,” said Stacy. “Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to support various NASA programs and, now, as co-owner of TMC I am able to contribute to the safety of missions returning to The Moon, planetary travel, and more! As an ‘adopted daughter’ of George Epps, I am extremely honored to work with the TMC team to carry the company’s legacy into the future.”

TMC goes the extra mile

"I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you and your employees for your excellent response to our needs as a customer. There have been several times when we have had an urgent need and your employees have 'gone the extra mile' to get the job done for us. This past Friday, October 13, was an excellent example of your company responding to our needs. I was in contact with Donnie Hadley for three days about the urgency of one part that was needed for assembly of an engine for NASA. At first I thought we could have this ready by late Thursday afternoon and we would need it back for engine assembly on Friday. As time passed, it became clear that this part would not be ready for cleaning until sometime Friday. I stayed in contact with Donnie as we experienced a few concerns about the part and we had several delays. The part was not ready until 6:30 pm on Friday. Donnie waited for me to deliver the part and finished cleaning it about 8:00 pm. All paperwork was in good order and we were able to assemble this critical part on the engine on Saturday. This would not have been possible without Donnie's commitment and willingness to assist us in a very critical endeavor."
